Investigation into the Transport of Waste into Queensland

On Tuesday 15 August 2017, the Queensland Government announced a three month independent investigation regarding waste transportation into Queensland.

Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection Steven Miles has appointed the Honourable Peter Lyons to lead the investigation in accordance with the terms of reference.

The investigation seeks to understand the financial, economic and regulatory drivers that are giving rise to the transport of waste into Queensland.

An interim report was provided to Queensland Government on 18 October 2017, with a final report due by 17 November 2017.

In light of the administrative arrangements during the caretaker period immediately before a general election, the publication of submissions received by the investigation will not be made available on the website at this time.
